Peter Andre highlights the opening of the New York Coffee Club in East Grinstead

The London Road of East Grinstead, Sussex had some excitement yesterday evening when Peter Andre and friends visited the Andre brothers’ new coffee shop. Screaming girls, paparazzi, TV cameras, police – we had it all. Peter Andre can certainly attract some attention. A few friends showed up including Italian celebrity chef, Gino D’Acampo, the winner of the 2009 “I’m a celebrity”. Peter  Andre dressed up in the uniform of a barrista and came out to the big crowd to give out some free coffee. The atmosphere was loud and lively and …… attention-grabbing!

Peter Andre. A successful pop star with many hit singles and albums behind him when he joined the cast of “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” in 2004, began a romance with glamour model, Katie Price and proceeded to live out a very public life in front of the cameras which has continued until now. Peter Andre and Katie were so often on the cover of OK magazine, one began to wonder if they had shares in it!

But East Grinstead is no stranger to a famous face over the years. You can run into Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page in the local Sainsbury’s on occasion and Hollywood superstars like Tom Cruise and John Travolta have been visiting here for years. The town is comfortable with celebrities and with so many discerning people visiting from in and out of town, it is hardly any wonder that it is easy to find high quality food and drink.

The next episode of “My Life”, Peter Andre’s latest adventure on the TV screens, is going to include yesterday’s opening of the “New York Coffee Club” in East Grinstead. Look out for it on ITV 2 on Saturday at 11.30 pm. Locals of this friendly West Sussex town will undoubtedly recognize a lot of things, including the growing East Grinstead Restaurant scene.

The celebrity culture has grown in the 21st Century in the UK with the onset of  the celebrity mags and shows like I’m a Celebrity plus a whole range of reality TV shows from Big Brother to The Apprentice. And the arrival of  Mr Peter Andre and the reality TV cameras in East Grinstead just contributes further to the town’s continuing revival and reputation as a popular place for locals and visitors alike to get themselves some good things to eat and drink. East Grinstead Restaurants and coffee shops are just getting busier and busier.
